The Atkinsons
The Atkinsons, a Richmond VA band, was formed kind of by accident.
Singer / songwriter Dickie Wood (from the band "Dog
Psychology") and mandolin player Jeff Williams (from the band
"The Guitar Brothers") would spend most every Thursday
night drinking beer and playing music together at Matt's Village
Pub's Open Mic Nite. One evening after jamming together, the duo was
asked to open a show for a local Richmond band. At that point, the
duo officially became The Atkinsons.
B2B
B2B is a Jimmy Buffett Tribute band located in Richmond, Virginia.
Most of the band members are also long standing members of the
Parrot Head Club of Richmond. B2B's main musical inspiration, of
course, is Jimmy Buffett, but they also play a wide variety of music
that ranges from Charlie Daniels to The Beach Boys.
Carbon Leaf A local band with RMC Alumni! They play all around
Virginia and Maryland, so check them out!
Church
Yard Grass
Churchyard Grass is a Gospel/Bluegrass band that has been exciting
crowds in the Richmond area since 1994. Their style of music,
attention to harmonies and the rapport they establish with their
audiences makes their performance an enjoyable show. In addition to
performing in churches, outdoor functions and private parties
throughout Central Virginia, the group has had the good fortune of
opening concerts for many well-known groups such as Doyle Lawson and
Quick Silver, The Lewis Family, IIIrd Tyme Out and Nothin' Fancy.
The band has released three recordings that are available at shows
or can be purchased through their website.
Copper
Creek Records This record company features many Virginia-based
musicians. We feature them during the Drive Thru With Rog
frequently!
Eddie From
Ohio
Too energetic to be labeled
just "folk", and not angry enough to be pegged
"alternative", Eddie from Ohio continues to defy
description with their unique blend of vocals and acoustic
instrumentation. A bedrock foundation of hand percussion and a
textural flavoring of acoustic guitar/bass/harmonica support the
four-part harmonies and lyrically-driven original music. While this
combination has drawn comparisons like the Grateful Dead meets
Peter, Paul & Mary, or like Jewel fronts the Bare Naked Ladies,
EFO fuses a multitude of musical influences to create their own
trademark sound. Singer/Songwriter Vance Gilbert said,"They're
kinda like The Story, except with more guys." The band's
roots go back to their days in Harrisonburg at JMU. They
frequently tour the MidAtlantic and Southeast. Check them out!
The Grandsons
A fan aptly described The Grandsons exuberant sound as
"American music in a blender with the lid off." The more
prominent elements in this eclectic whirlpool are New Orleans rhythm
and blues, rockabilly, swing and country two steps. After eight
years of plying their pop sound around the country as Grandsons of
the Pioneers, the group's increasing notoriety resulted in a
high-noon showdown with singing cowboys Sons of the Pioneers, who
balked at the idea of acknowledging paternity to a low down
tuba-toting, sax-blowing rock and roll band. Counseled by their team
of cut-throat lawyers to keep on playing rather than pause to
litigate, the band shortened its name to The Grandsons and has been
going full throttle ever since.
Susan Greenbaum Local folk singer-songwriter who gigs frequently at Ashland
Coffee & Tea as well as other places in the Richmond area.
A frequent favorite on the Local Hour!
James
Bailey Bluegrass
One of the finest and most respected Banjo players in Bluegrass
today, This Keysville, Virginia native has a long and illustrious
career. He played with Ricky Scaggs, Jerry Douglas, and Doyle Lawson
in his first stint of three with Charlie Waller and "The
Country Gentlemen" at the ripe old age of Sixteen !! He also
played with Del McCoury and the Dixie Pals, and performed on such
shows as "The Grand Old Opry" and "HeeHaw"
JUMA
This high energy and talented group of young musicians delivers a
fusion of rhythm and blues, reggae, acoustic, psychedelic, and
classic rock; a riveting combination that will infuse any event with
a mesmerizing, electric quality. JUMA is a dynamic blend of four
young men – all from Hanover, Virginia.
Legacy
Bluegrass Band
The Legacy Bluegrass Band is a four piece band based in Virginia. We
currently have two CD projects that are played on WHAN radio;
"Cold Granite Stone", and "Maybe This Time". We
tour throughout the East playing festivals, theatres, fundraisers,
private parties, town celebrations, weddings, and other events. Our
music is fairly traditional with a modern edge. What our fans tell
us that they enjoy most about our band are the quartet singing,
original song writing, musicianship, and easy joke telling style
(usually on each other) of our band members. We hope that you enjoy
listening to our music on WHAN radio!

area. Check out his website for schedules and more

Stone's Stew Jazz Music
Stone’s Stew Jazz Music was founded in 2001 by drummer Jared

grandmother, Rebecca Stone. It has been two years since the
conception of SSJM, and the band is still going strong. With the
departure of Jason and the addition of vocalist Fran Ahern, SSJM
continues to play regularly in and around Richmond with much
success.
